    Summary

“Your roommate will be Ms. Elphaba Thropp, daughter of the Governor of Munchkinland. She’s a … sorcery student.”

    Fiyero raises an eyebrow.

    “Ms. Thropp?”

“We are not worried about your… reputation, in this case,” Mrs. Coddle says, and then has to press a hand over her mouth to keep from either squeaking or laughing, Fiyero isn’t sure which. “It’s unconventional as I said, but… well, you’ll see.”

Galinda bites her lip as she sneaks another glance at Fiyero’s naked chest.

“I want him,” she whispers, and then flushes a lovely dark red as she realizes what she's let slip. “I — I’m sorry, Elphie! It’s decidedly improper for a woman such as myself to act in such a way! Forget I said anything.”

You can’t have him, Elphaba thinks, he’s mine.

    Summary

"This was a somewhat new, and welcome, ritual for the two of them. Galinda had stormed in one day, furious about some misstep made by some boy or another, and Elphaba had placed a comforting hand on her shoulder…
Elphaba was not used to physical touch. When she and Galinda first embraced at the Ozdust ballroom she remembered a sea of goose pimples popping up all at once, and those embarrassing tears pooling in her eyes- so entirely had Galinda gained the upper hand, the blonde girls power over her, once abstract and social, suddenly struck her bone deep. Anywhere Galinda went, Elphaba would follow. And Galinda knew it."

    Summary

Elphaba touched down inside the treehouse, soft moss silencing her landing. Yellow light filled the space, though it would be dark before long. With a flick of her wrist, everything returned to its rightful place. Her cloak and hat hung themselves neatly on a row of tree roots she had coaxed to grow like hooks. Her boots slipped off, sitting by the long stretch of trunk that served as her launch point when she flew. The broom, still buzzing under her hands, settled easily next to her boots, its bristles straightening themselves out after a long fly. Elphaba watched, one eyebrow cocked. The thing wasn’t alive, exactly, but it certainly had opinions about how well she maintained its aging wood.

Slinging her bag over her shoulder, she pinned the new poster up to the wall, stepping back with a sigh.

“You’d think that after this long, they would give up on the story that you kidnapped me.”

Or, what if Elphaba had kissed Glinda during What Is This Feeling and they had been dating all year? What if Glinda flees the palace with her girlfriend? How does that change the story?

    Summary

“I’m fine. Things are going well. I…” Glinda hesitated. She tried not to ever say anything too sappy to Elphaba, who never knew how to accept such things gracefully, but she couldn’t help it. “I miss you,” Glinda admitted softly. Again, the line went silent for a beat too long. Glinda opened her mouth to soften the admission, but before she could, Elphaba’s quiet voice filled her ear.

    “I miss you, too.”

After graduation, Elphaba and Glinda find themselves in separate cities and therefore apart for the first time in years. They keep in contact through letters, phone calls, and occasional visits. When Elphaba won’t stop being elusive about how she’s faring after being cut off financially, Glinda worries a completely appropriate amount. (She tries to offer a completely appropriate amount of help, too.)
