Summary
A year after the end of the war, Hubert and Ferdinand are sent to Morfis to seek assistance in preventing a looming agricultural crisis at home. Alone together in a strange land, they must navigate the local politics, the threat of Agarthan interference, and the ever-evolving complications of their own relationship.
Told from Hubert's POV. Features all the Ferdibert classics: duty, banter, pining, Ferdinand being handsome and irritating, Hubert being mistrustful and repressed, and many (many) extremely avoidable misunderstandings.

Summary
Hubert and Ferdinand crash against one another as the war draws to a close.

“It would be pleasant,” Ferdinand had suggested earlier that day, fingers curling in the long lines of hair that tumble towards his elbows. A giveaway befitting only the grandest of fools. “If you would join me in my chambers tonight. We could speak tactically about the next steps to befall the Empire's army and prepare thoughts for the Emperor herself, when her chariot arrives in two days' time.” His eyes had glistened in a roguish deviation from his title. “Or if you tire of such discussion, we could taste Aegir's wines and speak more freely.”
Indirect as Ferdinand may be, to Hubert his point had been a clear one: I want you alone, so that I may taste you again.

It had been perhaps an hour into the evening when he realized that there was a carefully-hidden shadow lurking under Ferdinand's stately attire, just slightly out of fashion, and his polished manners. It had been far later -- after a month spent on correspondence, occasional brushes in public places, and increasingly futile attempts to convince himself to think logically about what he was seeing and yet deny the obvious conclusions at the same time -- that Hubert had come to realize exactly what Ferdinand's affably patrician personality was concealing, and he realized that he had come face to face with someone, something, which had fascinated him since childhood.
Or: Hubert has a bit of an obsession with the occult. Ferdinand is the occult.

Summary
Ferdinand was not so far gone that he couldn’t muster up a modicum of outrage. “What are you doing in my room?” he hissed, pulling himself upright.
It only made Hubert realise how slumped Ferdnand’s posture had been. He curled his lip derisively.
“What does it look like I’m doing, Ferdinand?”
“You miserable, murderous cur. How dare you come into my rooms without permission! You - did you draw me a bath?"
Ferdinand seems sad so Hubert makes his bed and draws him a bath and manages to do it all in a completely healthy and normal way, of course.
