The fight was brutal. It was ugly. She couldn’t look away. Vi raises a single fist into the air as she looks around at the crowd, and Caitlyn gets a clear view of her expression for the first time. She expects to see pride, triumph, maybe bloodlust. She sees nothing but a hollow exhaustion.
“That’s the last fight for the night,” Loris says, leaning in close so she can hear, and Caitlyn nearly jumps. She had completely forgotten he was there. “Impressive, don’t you think?”
