Summary
Wen Ruohan was sure the boy had limitless potential, if fully supported. He found it was such a pity that all those inventions never got to see the light of the day.
But how could he do so? He couldn’t just make him his heir, even if he very much wanted to do so. Wei Wuxian would certainly contribute to the legacy of the Wen Clan, but he couldn’t defy tradition by leaving the sect to someone with no blood relation to him whatsoever.
He had already spent two incense sticks’ time pondering about what the best course of action would be, when suddenly an idea popped into his mind. And it was so brilliant, so perfect that he couldn’t let it go even if he wanted to.
It was a way to elevate the boy above anyone else. He’d be served and revered, nobody would even dare look at him the wrong way.Or: Wen Ruohan sees the future, gets thoroughly impressed by Wei Wuxian, and then promptly decides that the best way to deal with all his problems is marrying the guy.

Non-linear narrative set in my Gusu City AU. Includes some worldbuilding for context's sake.
WangXian are married, but not to one another. Wangji's followed his uncle's instructions, Wei Ying his broken heart. He's overcome his past and has become star architect to the rich, media darling, and idol to countless fans. He's famous, wealthy, glamorous. He also is a devoted husband and adoptive father, friend, and benefactor.
Wangji... not so much. He's conscientious in his familial duties, though he's cut his ties with the Lans' corporate empire and reset his life.
But the past has a habit of colouring the present, and the probability of paths crossing is greater if one moves in overlapping circles. Both of them have secrets...Series
