Summary
Olivia runs.
It’s raining, the storm is about two minutes away from completely talking over, the wind is howling and the rain is fighting her every step, but she runs, down the empty street, through the gate and to his door, harsh, heavy breaths leave her chest as rain beats down on her while she stares at the door.
She knocks before she can talk herself out of it. She’s come this far. She has to see him.
They can’t end like that. With him thinking she doesn’t care.
That’s she’s happy to be nothing to him.
She could have died today and their last conversation would have been that one.

Summary
“Kathleen call you?” he asks, eyes fixed on the ground. He’s hunched over in the chair staring down, elbows braced on his knees, a bottle hanging loosely from one hand. He’s doing his best to ignore the slight tremble in the other.
“Maureen,” Olivia replies. He tilts his head just a fraction, surprised. He takes a drink, lifting the bottle to look at her. He doesn’t meet her eyes, though he feels her gaze on him.
“What did she say?” His asks, voice low.
“Very little. Just that there was a family situation. And that you probably needed someone to talk to.”
