Summary
Goro had the opportunity to meet the subject of those rumors on Kurusu’s first day at Shujin, as apparently it’s the student council president’s responsibility to show new students where the bathrooms are and teach them what a library is. Kurusu had been quiet for the most part, unreactive behind her dorky glasses and the untamed rat’s nest she calls hair. At the time Goro thought—a little naively when concerning a student with a record—maybe Kurusu won’t be much trouble after all.
Until she found Kurusu on the rooftop three days later, talking to a cat Sakamoto helped her sneak into school.

Summary
Yoshizawa fires off a volley of bless attacks. The magic loses its form and splinters away, leaving Kurusu with little more than a tear in her tailcoat.
“Good,” Kurusu praises, and fires a bullet that clips Yoshizawa in the calf. “But you can’t assume your attacks will knock your assailant off-balance. Don’t let yourself get overconfident.”
Hidden in the shadows, Akechi rolls her eyes. That’s pretty fucking rich, coming from her.
Akechi is still owed a rematch. Kurusu, despite accepting her glove, has found a new and frivolous way to waste her time.

The shadow’s laughter echoes, shrill and broken. “I am humanity’s shade,” she says, “Your hopes, your dreams. I am the stories you tell at night.”
“You’re testing my fucking patience,” Goro says, gritting his teeth.
She turns to look at him, tilting her head with slow, cat-like grace. Goro widens his stance and grips the hilt of his sword. He refuses to look away. She glances up and down his form, yellow eyes narrow, searching. Then, she stops; she smiles. “You can wake him up with love,” she says. “True love.”
