She had this image in her head, like if she stopped moving, a bright red target would appear on her back— this one! This one here doesn’t have a goddamn clue where she’s going, what she’s doing!
So she kept walking, and she probably should’ve been tired by now, she probably should’ve been tired hours ago, but she wasn’t.

Without her ability to channel, Moiraine is finding it more difficult to manage certain aspects of her life that she used the power to cope with. When she and Lan stop at a noisy tavern for the night she finds herself pushed into a meltdown beyond her control.
'Thud. Thud. Thud. Thud.
She rolled over onto her side, sliding a hand under her meager pillow and pressing it firmly against her ear, as if she could crush out some of the din.
Of course, the other ear remained exposed, and seemed to become more sensitive to compensate for its muted fellow.
She grit her teeth and closed her eyes, counting her heartbeats, telling herself not to listen, not to hear it, to drown it out, to ignore it.
