But there can be only one... at the top of the scoreboard, that is. Or, maybe rankings aren't as dangerous of an issue as the growing ire of Adora's date? High school AU that includes a little angst, a little drama, a little ‘cat’ fighting, and a little fun.(My apologies for Glimmer being really kind of a bitch OOC. It's how the story went originally and I couldn't really change that without rewriting the entire plot. I do like Glimmer in rl, I promise.)

One-Shot written for a Backspace Challenge based on the prompt: "Your landlord is a vampire, so they offer you a deal: You can pay your rent in money... or in blood."
Word count cap was 2000 word, so I might be a little in trouble. Shhh, don't tell anyone. Also, DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HARD IT IS TO WRITE WITHOUT BACKSPACING OR DELETING/CHANGING THINGS AFTER-THE-FACT??? It's maddening, lol.

Summary
It's a fictional short about the night a marriage dies I wrote four years ago.
When I came out publicly as gay/pan, someone close threw at me that they thought I was only "thinking" I was "that way" because I "hate men." I don't, as a matter of fact. I'm actually a pretty strong ally to men, especially when I see a lot of really good guys getting cut down in the flood of 'rage against the patriarchy' that is becoming so prevalent. But, I would also be BLIND to see that there aren't HUGE problems in our culture with inequalities, double-standards, injustices, and assaults of many types. And it would be a violent attack on my character to assume I haven't, as a woman, as a daughter, as a female who practiced law for over a decade, actually experienced first hand *many* of them.
And so this story is a combination. In part it draws personal threads from a particular man, whose real history I know and pity and know contributed to his own trauma, but sadly ultimately grew into something cancerous. While it is also a fictionalized commentary on a, though not universal, still-present disregard of wives in today's culture. But, truthfully, the parties could be any gender, because it's about relationship.

Peeta finds himself married to Katniss as the result of a bargain struck between his father and her dying mother. The road forward is unclear, painful, but also Bittersweet. Can Peeta solve the Geometry of how their lives are meant to fit together? Canon-divergent; neither Prim nor Peeta were reaped for the 74th Games.

10.13.19 You'll see it says 24/27 but when I posted 24, it is decent enough to be an ending in case I never get to 25-27. It won't answer everything, but combined with the rest of the story, I think it's enough to make you not feel ripped off if I never get to the additionals. <3

Summary
Mockingjay slight-canon-divergence. Katniss struggles with Peeta's joining District 12 in the effort to embrace life again. The story kicks in while Peeta is away at the Capitol, making nice as a celebrity and purchasing supplies for the bakery he's rebuilding home in Twelve. Katniss is alone, wrestling with her frustration that he's recovering so much faster than she is, her jealousy over how much everyone else wants a piece of him and how his generous nature makes him oblige, and the thought that maybe she's so damaged, he should rebuild a life in Town without her since she's not sure she has the courage to do it alongside him.
I think this may be one of my favorites of the fics I've written.
This has been in my scraps folder for several years, written as an alternate ending to a WIP I was read back when I first joined the fandom. ***Thus, a little light on the background, but what I wrote above should be enough.*** I can't remember what that WIP was. However, it's been years, and frankly, I'm not sure it could ever actually be pinned to a particular fic since this my basically my generic post-rebellion thoughts. But I feel like it's time to let it get some air finally.

Ianthe had given it a fair try, hadn't she? She had acknowledged the goal her id had already been driving her towards and settled in to play the long game, stacking the deck with painstaking personal care. Every move was designed to bind Harrow to her, the choreography gradual and absolutely inexorable. But Ianthe had miscalculated slightly. That was that. Now Harrow isn't here and this distastefully bombastic imbecile keeps having the audacity to unleash that tacky lopsided GRIN at Ianthe while they're sparring. Using HARROW'S face. It's tantamount to foul play, really.
