Summary
“You're being cruel, Ilya. Please just— stop.”
Pain blooms across Ilya's expression, a brief lapse in form. He's quick to recover, furrowing his brow and pursing his lips, like Shane’s made more than a simple request, like he's got Rose Laundry here, in his lap, parading her around like Ilya has with all his women since rookie year. Like he has any right to that pain.
“Oh, so this is what it takes to make you say my name without freaking out.”
Or: Shane does not go home with Rose after the club.

Summary
Once is a mistake, twice is terrible judgment, three times is enemy action. After four times, it might just be something worse.
OR
What if Scott hooked up with Ilya during the summer of 2010 entirely by accident, then kept doing it on purpose.

Summary
Through the haze of darkness and body heat and drunken partygoers, all Shane could see was Ilya. His eyes were fixed on Shane and Rose: the way she touched him, the way she kissed him, the way they moved together. And the look on Ilya’s face - the agony in his eyes - pierced Shane like a blade through his heart.
It made him want to peel his skin off; made him feel ashamed for having a body that had been touched by someone other than Ilya.

Summary
Scott’s not really surprised to spot Ilya Rozanov backstage, getting lightly swarmed by a crowd of sound techs and hair and makeup crew. Even on the rare year that neither of them were getting any awards, the League always tried to get either him or Hollander, and preferably both, presenting something. And since Hollander was still out for the count and recovering up in Ottawa, that left Rozanov, standing awkwardly while a harried-looking woman straightened his bow-tie.
Or: Scott Hunter's not really sure what's happening right now.

Summary
“So,” Ilya says, dragging the word out. He’s swiping at non-existent crumbs on the counter, avoiding his eyes. “You have dinner at parents on Christmas, yes?”
“Yeah.”
Ilya nods. “I can house-sit while you are away. Make place pretty, if you have decorations. Make it less boring.”
Shane’s eyebrows fly up. “What? You don’t want to come with?”
Finally, Ilya looks up at him. Hesitantly, he asks, “You want me to come with?”
Frowning, Shane says, “I– yeah. Yeah, of course. You think I invited you here just so you could spend Christmas alone?”
Looking away, Ilya shrugs. “I am intruder here, Hollander. You have family. I do not. Makes situation… difficult, maybe. You forget the world thinks we are rivals.”
“Not difficult,” Shane says immediately. “You want to come, you’re coming.”
Or: Ilya's in Montreal alone during the week leading up to the Winter Classic. Shane doesn't let him spend Christmas alone.
