“Please help, God please, I need help. He’s everything to me.”
The commotion stops Mina in her tracks. She stops cleaning up, rushing to the reception area where she finds a woman holding the cutest little dog. The dog whines, clearly in some pain as he writhes. The woman’s big, brown eyes peek out from beneath her overgrown fringe. She’s soaked from the rain, so is the dog. Thunder cracks outside, making the woman jump.
“What happened?” Mina asks, as she takes the woman by the shoulders, directing her to put the dog on the observation table.
“I was… I…” The girl stutters, her hands never leaving the dog’s fur.
“Hey, take some deep breaths. To help him you need to help me by explaining.” Mina says, her voice radiating a practised calm.

Momo's dog, Boo, gets hit by a car and she rushes to the closest veterinary clinic. Mina treats Boo. They notice the sadness in each other's eyes, hiding under the surface. Maybe that's what intrigues them about each other.
