Yes. This was what he really wanted when he made the decision to storm into Pike’s office this morning. “What?” Jim asked, feigning ignorance–as if he didn’t know what that one word meant.
Pike stood from his leaned stance and grabbed Jim’s chin, tilting it up to meet his lust blown eyes, his thumb brushing lightly along his bottom lip. “You will call me Sir, cadet.”

Jake refuses to be buried.
He flies like he has nothing left to lose (he doesn’t), a one man army (he is), leaving everyone else in the dust (so they don’t leave him). Admiral Kazansky claps him on the shoulder, says he expects great things from him, and Jake’s smile is feral as the rest of his flight school cohort looks on in disbelief.
Hangman, they all say, like Jake’s entire personality was a long con, and he ranks first in class.
Rooster doesn’t look at all.

“What’s this for?” Bradshaw asks warily in the middle of the tarmac, staring down at the protein bar Jake shoved unceremoniously into his hand. He looks suspicious and slightly bewildered, like he always does whenever he’s within proximity to Jake.
“For decoration, obviously,” Jake replies, mocking. It’s the last in the box he keeps in his locker as an easy means of refueling pre or post hop, but Bradshaw needn’t know all that. “I had extra and don’t like that flavor anyway.”
