Summary
Steve, Bucky, and Tony have been exploring their new dynamic for a few months, and things have been going okay on the outside, but Tony's been struggling more than he's let on. So when Bucky and Steve leave for a week, Tony realizes just how much he's come to depend on them, and it scares him.
After they return, Tony copes with his feelings by hiding and not drinking--not even coffee--so he doesn't need to worry about wetting his diaper as much (something he's needed since the palladium poisoning fried his nerves). Steve is perceptive and notices--leading to Tony lashing out and saying things he regrets. He spirals, but thankfully, his daddies are there to catch him.

Summary
Bucky gets nightmares--violent ones--so it's an agreement that Tony will let Steve deal with them. So when Steve isn't home, Bucky sleeps in another room, and Tony is told to stay away.
Except Tony has never been great with rules--and he's not about to let Bucky suffer.
Steve sees a pattern and notices the bruising when he returns from a mission--coming to the wrong conclusion--that Bucky is abusing Tony.
He confronts Tony, ready to fight Bucky if he needs to, while Tony struggles to gain control of the script. Then Bucky walks in and things can only get worse before they get better.

Summary
Tony had been thin once—starved, more accurately—while in the cave, but this wasn't anything like that, not really. Instead, he'd chosen this for the most honest and pure reasons. Entirely for love, as a romantic might say.
Though that wouldn't be enough of an explanation when the time came.
Because he could only hide so long, this had always been a gamble of emotions.
Bucky and Steve were going to notice the sharper cut of his ribs, the more pronounced knobs of his spine, and the way the healthy layer of protective fat under his skin had eroded away.
Proof of devotion—or the machinations of the love drunk. The line between the two blurred.

Howard's heart skips a beat.
“I-I don’t have any children.” Howard forces the words out. It’s the truth too. He doesn’t have any kids, doesn’t even have a wife or any desire to find one.
“You will,” they say, voices certain and almost amused. “We know your beginning, your middle, your eventual end. You will have a child and in exchange for our aid that child will belong to us.”
The implications of what they’re saying makes Howard even more lightheaded than before.
“Deal.” Howard says with no hesitation.
