Lucanis shifted his weight on his feet, eyed Rook rather suspiciously, but then said, “I’ll owe you.”
Of all things he could’ve said, Rook wasn’t quite expecting that. He let out a soft surprised chuckle, “Well. I’m sure we’ll owe each other a lot more before this is all over. Let’s go.”
(It starts with a Rook saving a Crow from The Ossuary and it ends with the Rook saving the Crow's home, but in-between all that they find some time to learn about the other.)

When he returned to Rook, his voice was almost unbearably soft. “You’re an idiot,” he muttered, as though speaking to himself. His hands were still trembling as he pressed a cloth to the wound, trying to hold it together.
Rook, ever the charmer, just smiled. “You sound like Viago.”
Follow the growing relationship between Lucanis and Rook, told from the POVs of their companions. As the two get closer, everyone has their own take on what’s going on between them. Expect a lot of pining, misunderstandings, and some lighthearted moments as the companions watch their relationship develop.
Edit: This fic did much better than I ever expected - so, as a small thank you, I decided to revisit and rewrite it. Now featuring even more longing, more words, and hopefully, even more to love.
