Till goes quiet, toying with the frayed edges of the blanket. Ivan watches him closely as he hesitates. Usually, Till is easy to decipher. His brow furrows when he’s worried. A telltale twitch at the corner of his mouth means he’s trying not to laugh. He blushes when he’s embarrassed, and turns a particularly beautiful shade of red when he’s angry. But right now, Ivan hasn't the faintest idea what he’s thinking.
“So, uh. Last night was crazy, huh?” Till says. He’s trying for casual, but Ivan can’t help but notice that Till is still avoiding his eyes.
Ivan and Till watch the solar eclipse together. It's as simple as that, until it isn't.

Ivan lowers to his knees in front of him. With his bunny ears, big dark eyes, and long eyelashes he looks unbearably cute. It’s not fair.
“I’m helping my boyfriend avoid an aneurysm,” Ivan says, fluttering those eyelashes like he knows exactly what Till’s thinking. His hands start to unfasten Till’s pants, and Till’s resolve melts faster than whipped cream on hot cocoa.
“Is that what they’re calling it these days?” Till mutters, hating how Ivan’s smirk brings heat to his gut.

Strong arms locked around Till, holding him back, but the insanity came in violent spasms. He needed to hear his voice again. Sickness festered in his gut until it coursed through his constricted throat; it burned as his voice clawed out. “I…van…” The word splattered out of his mouth, distorted to the point of unfamiliarity.
“H…im I…van...” His hand lashed out again, viciously pointing, panic boiling in his chest. “Iva…n.”
✿ Or: Eight years after the Alien Stage was blown up, Till has found some semblance of peace with the rebels. But, of course, fate decides to fuck with him. He searches for Ivan.

Ivan lets out a few pitiful grunts, somehow unable to let out any semblance of a purr. As a kid, Ivan would grit his teeth on purpose, his chin thrumming with the force. You don't have to do all that, Till would say, pausing his own purring. Isn't it only polite? Ivan would ask, jaw clenched. How else will you know that your only friend is enjoying your company? Today, Till reels in his punches. Instead, his tail loops around Ivan's arm at the broken bursts of breath.
"Be good," he says, and Ivan lets out a cough. His head bumps into Till's, ears brushing along Till's. An ache spreads along the point of contact. Till bends his head so Ivan will know to press his fingers there.
"I'm nothing but a gentleman," Ivan replies, voice raspy. His tail flicks behind him, as if he's ready to play.
