Summary
Ever since his return to Korea, the lives of Ijin Yu and 001 have mostly run parallel to one another. There have been periodic intersections – instances where 001 needed to step in to protect what’s important – but he’s always been able to maintain that careful boundary.
His friends at school, Dayeon, Grandpa – they all belong to the safer, gentler world of Ijin Yu. The dangers are different: low-end gangsters and high school bullies and the occasional threat to the SW Corporation. It’s not a world where he’s supposed to lose people.
When someone close to Ijin is targeted by assassins, he struggles to find the balance between being a normal teenager and being 001, trained mercenary.

“I thought you were dead,” Ijin tells Seokju. He means it in the most direct way possible: that Seokju’s fake death was convincing enough and the rumor had already spread throughout the SW building.
He doesn’t add how hearing those words in the elevator or watching the haggard reactions of Team 3 felt like a bomb had gone off within his ribcage. Nor does he mention how he thought he lost his friend because he hadn’t been fast enough to stop the assassins.
Those sorts of admissions aren’t relevant to the plan.

There’s a new dangerous drug plaguing the streets of Bludhaven and it’s beginning to trickle into Gotham. Similar to opioids, and some deliriants, it has the capability to devastate both cities. But the most perplexing effect of the drug is the risks of detoxing from the drug.
At first, when Nightwing found reports of dead bodies showing up with trace amounts of the drug in their system, he assumed it was overdoses. But further studies of the drug have found that if those addicted to the drug go too long without taking another dose (around a 12 hour window), their body shuts down, ending with cardiac arrest.
With the stakes even higher, Nightwing jumps at the opportunity to investigate a tip he’d received about a new shipment coming in. He’d be fine without backup, the Bats in Gotham were busy handling an Arkham breakout and it was just recon. He was fine, that is, until he was caught and dosed with the drug during the ensuing fight.Now he needs to figure out how to find a cure, find and stop the main supplier of the drug, all while keeping his new accidental addiction from his nosy family. No biggie right? If only the withdrawals weren’t so fucking crippling.

He was damn lucky he’d racked up so much PTO from work. Dick was also lucky that he’d managed to charm not only his boss but his coworkers who sent him texts hoping he “got better soon”. And really, was it even a lie to tell them he’d caught a nasty flu that left him bedridden? Dick didn’t think so because, as it turned out, dope sickness wasn’t all that different. Of course, a flu couldn’t be cured by getting high but the symptoms weren’t too dissimilar.
