Beautifully written.
A wonderful, realistically described fantasy-drama adventure with oodles of angst, dread, horror & fear ... but a story which also explores beautifully nuanced themes of deep friendships, all portrayed with great maturity, understanding & tenderness.
Loved this so very much & will definitely be one to reread in the future.

What if saving Mikasa had brought more strife for Eren? What if that strife caused him to be stuck outside the walls for five years?
><><><><><><><><><><><
Eren hadn't realized he was breathing so erratically. Levi is telling him something—probably colorful words of encouragement, but Eren ignores him. He's allowed to be scared. One good shot from the canons and he's dead.

Well written, interesting start.
Loving the imagery of Titan!Eren and Levi safe and snug (for now!) in a protected burrow of Eren's making outside the walls :)
(Autor warning: slow updates).

Eren has a specific way of looking at the world. Having a small gang before he became a cadet helped shape that.
But so do so many other things.
......
Levi, Jean, and Historia, and some others realizing things about Eren over the time they've known him. It's hard to watch a friend die. Especially when they're still breathing.

Wonderful Eren character analysis. Cleverly woven (& thoroughly heart-wrenching) references to canon - even inc. that OVA of the 104th & bandits.
Loved it.Note poem at the end.

Bookmarker's Notes
Beautifully written. Angst and tenderness wonderfully combined and so poignantly expressed in the words and feelings between Eren and Levi.

To Comment and ask if I can add this to my canon-universe collection (once i get off my ass and complete it!).

Summary
The Rumbling is over, and the world outside of Paradis is dead.
Ymir seeks a newfound freedom by etching her soul into Historia’s newborn child. Her exit shatters the Paths, lifting the curse from all remaining shifters, including Eren Jaeger, who hadn't expected his own survival.
Eren is taken back to Paradis and imprisoned—possibly for life. Having formed a new, aggressive political movement of the state, Jaegerists defend Eren’s right to freedom now that their martyr is no longer facing imminent death at 23. A court date is set.
Eren does not believe in his own freedom anymore. But when he finds out that Levi’s sole vote against Eren's publicly debated execution holds the most power, he begins to wonder why Levi would speak for him a second time, and whether he regrets the first.

Bookmarker's Notes
>"Peace and freedom are natural enemies."<
Great opening line, followed by a wonderfully gritty decription of post-rumbled Paradis:->"As we move outside inner city borders, the high walls that once protected us are replaced by an endless horizon of desolation. The landscape, devoid of walls, makes it impossible to guess what district we ride through [...]. The indifferent sky is all that bears witness to the remnants of a calamity that reshaped the world."<
And:
>It was ashen dust, almost as fine as flour [...]. We were breathing our lungs full of countless civilizations lost, cities reduced to ruins, of souls—the guilt of it made me choke like I was deprived of oxygen."<Am really enjoying ...though it admittedly hurts to read/hear Eren's harsh self-loathing, and of the turmoil running circles in his mind.
>"The wind howls outside of the carriage, screaming with it the whispers of the fallen [...] I close my eyes, attempting to shut out the haunting symphony, but the echoes of the past, present, and future refuse to be silenced. There are more voices in my head than I could ever count, and they all speak at the same time, each of something different, in dialects unknown to me, talking to people I never knew."<
Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
