Summary
Colin was, despite his brother’s assertions otherwise, not actually completely emotionally stunted.
He knew that it was weird that Penelope's date bothered him; it was not normal to feel a rush of annoyance when you thought of your friend on a date, nor was it typical to want to wrap her in a duvet and lock the door to stop her from leaving. And as he sat, contemplating his predicament, he knew that the way he had looked at Penelope, clad in a distractingly low-cut top and devastatingly flattering jeans, was not the way one should look at a friend. When she smiled at him, something fluttering and unknown sat low in his stomach, and when she parted her lips to trace them in mauve, something warmer had licked long his spine.
He knew then he was fucked; no good ever came from loving one’s best friend.
