Summary
“You know Valentine’s Day is coming up, and I…” Rumi’s fingers toyed with the edge of her notebook. She hesitated, then smiled certainly—like she’d made a decision. “And I—well, would you maybe—”
Mira didn’t let her finish.
The words tangled in her chest, sharp and panicked. She could already hear it—Jinu this, Jinu that. Some request for help picking something romantic. Advice she absolutely did not want to give—at least, not without a solid week to prepare herself. The idea of sitting there, nodding along while Rumi talked about her boyfriend, made something twist painfully in her chest.
“I’m so sorry.” Mira blurted, already shoving her chair back with an uncomfortable scrape. “I… I didn’t realize how late it was. I really have to go.”
__________
OR: Mira being oblivious while Rumi repeatedly hits her over the head with the "pls ask me out" stick. And then they fuck about it.

Summary
To Yolanda’s horror, the cabin they pulled up to as her phone announced that they’d arrived at their destination looked more like something out of a horror movie than the quaint photos online.
“Um, did you bring me here to murder me?” Trinity asked from the passenger seat. She was joking, but there was an actual thread of hesitancy there. Yolanda knew it wasn’t directed at her, but rather the situation in general.
When a carefully planned getaway doesn't work out quite as expected, it somehow turns out even better than Yolanda could've imagined.

Summary
It was ridiculous, seeing it in this environment, something soft and plush in a place that served expensive wine, but Mira had chosen it deliberately. Because Rumi loved teddy bears in a way she tried to pretend she didn’t, because Mira had seen the way Rumi’s fingers found the keychain in her bag when she was anxious, because Mira had stitched the first bear back together years ago and had never stopped thinking about what it meant.

Summary
You don’t even feel the need to apologize to Dennis until you start to realize how good he is. Like, good at heart. There’s nothing performative. He’s just a sweet boy. And you’re you, which never made you feel as bad as it does now that you’re surrounded by good people all day long. He’s the worst of them all, though. So fucking sweet, so considerate. He knows you hate the apologies, and he stops. He knows you hate the upstairs neighbors, and he says something to them to make them quiet down. He knows you hate talking about Langdon, and he gives you an out every time the man comes up.
Trinity probably should have known that Huckleberry was going to be trouble when she persuaded him to come live with her. She couldn't have known that he would become so important to her. (Seriously, this is the guy who killed a patient on his first day! What was she thinking?)

Summary
It’s one of those things—words, phrases, insults, sometimes even compliments—that sticks with Trinity, even though it shouldn’t. Lodges itself somewhere in the gaps of her ribcage, so with each step she can feel it there under skin, flesh and digging through bone. It grooves into the recesses of her mind, it gets caught in her throat, she can taste those words just on the tip of her tongue and she really fucking hates it.
Much like everything else her stupid brain clings to (it’s a trauma response, she knows that, she’s a doctor, but calling her brain stupid is easier than really facing the problem) it sticks.
Trouble, trouble, trouble.
Or: Trinity Santos learns to let her guard down, just a little bit.
