Summary
A demon is loose in the Institute and possessing and killing Shadowhunters. Alec falls victim to it and ends up spiraling while trying to right his perceived wrongs in the most unhealthy ways possible. His friends and family try to save him before it's too late.
An angsty Alec alternate version of the demon possession and fallout of ep204 through ep209. All changes made are for the purpose of making Alec feel worse or adding a little more Malec into my life. A little more hurt and a little more comfort than canon.

Bucky had spent too long memorizing Steve to not know when something was wrong with the other man, and now he could tell by the set of his shoulder and the way that he wouldn't meet Bucky's eyes that something was very wrong.

“I’m taller,” Bucky says immediately.
“We’re the same height.”
“Nah, I’m definitely taller.”
“Why does that even matter?” Sam asks incredulously.

-Alden Nowlan, This Is What I Wanted to Sign Off WithBucky had stupidly thought that maybe if he could get Steve set up with a nice girl it would ease his worry about leaving him, the horrible gnaw of it deep in his belly. Like maybe if Steve was going steady with some pretty dame it wouldn’t matter that Bucky would be dead in a ditch somewhere, not even to Bucky.
Bucky thinks that maybe if he tells himself this enough, it will become true.
