Sakura, for one, isn’t much good at gathering scraps of evidence, discerning what might be important and what’s best not to dwell on, drawing information out of people she barely knows only to turn it around and declare one of them a murderer with the slotted-together pieces of the puzzle. The thought rattles her, that one of these kids her same age could find it in them to kill.
So instead of investigating, Sakura does what she can: she stands guard over poor Sayaka with the knife in her stomach.

The next day, at lunch when the rest of the class crowded around in the same four desks that they always occupied to eat, and Tenko sat alone by the window eating through the bento her father packed for her that morning, Himiko slid into the desk next to her, her own bento bearing rice formed into the shape of a cute white fox.
It felt a bit mean to be surprised, but Tenko couldn’t help it. Nobody really liked her, so of course they didn’t eat lunch with her. She watched Himiko for a long moment as she used trainer chopsticks to eat the dried plums her parent must’ve used for the eyes, and finally mustered the courage to say, “Hi, Himiko-chan.”
“Hi, Tenko-chan,” Himiko replied through a mouthful of plum and rice. “You can use chopsticks.”

Tenko has two solutions to every problem. Ignore it, or fight it. She learns a third in her fourth year of elementary school when Himiko transfers into her class, and then countless others as she grows up, and over time, learns to put her faith in her heart, and not her fists.

SHRIEKING AND WRITHING ON THE FLOOR OHHHHHHHHHH
this made me feel so warm inside, i love this kind of "growing up different" story and i feel like it fits tenko to a T! side characters felt integral in a way i really liked and i liked seeing their own small side arcs. lovely exploration of tenko's character and lovely ending that had me giggling. tenko LOVE!!!!!!!! -

Mostly, he’d been expecting Miu to try to kill him. That hadn’t ended up happening for some reason; instead he’d been pulled out of the digital world early, with no warning or explanation beyond a sudden flash of light and his avatar being sucked off the map.
Kokichi had been prepared for a lot of things, but waking up in Kaito Momota’s body hadn’t been one of them.

Kaito grits his teeth and squeezes his eyes shut. He’s not sure why but his head hurts. He can feel a dull pain near the back of his skull. What happened to his head? Did he catch it on something? No, that doesn’t sound right. He thinks there’s a more sinister reason why his head hurts, which will also explain why he’s currently tied up in an unknown cell.
He’s always known that the chances of him being kidnapped were higher than usual for the average person. He’s a prince, after all.

It made her angry then. Now, she smiles at the memory.They were right to think humans are terrified, always have been.

Kaito's farm is burned and salted under royal order, which prompts him to take up the title of Hero and go vanquish the demon prince who, everyone assures him, has been whispering madness into the divine Queen Junko's ear since the day she spared him execution as a thief and took him in as her son.
Kaito finds out pretty fast that his chances as a peasant of ever even getting to see the royals is minimal at best, and saving the queen impossible at worst. Until a masked thief's interference drastically changes both Kaito's odds... and the certainty of his goal.
