Summary
Before his third year of Hogwarts has even begun, Harry faces three whole weeks of unsupervised time in Diagon Alley. In that time he takes a trip to Gringotts - and that changes everything.

“Johnny, fuckin’ hell.” Skull-framed eyes widened. A hand shot out to grab Soap’s shoulder, turning him to get a better look at whatever had caught Ghost's attention. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
Soap looked down at himself to get an idea what the lieutenant was freaking out about.
Ah. Blood. Quite an impressive amount, actually.
Soap gets a little bit shot. It's fine, but the shock rattles their small group, making them even closer than before. Also, there's a game of Cluedo, for some reason.

“Let me try something,” Granger murmurs with a frown and conjures a baby’s rattle in the form of a very round bee and waves it around Longbottom’s head. It doesn’t help. Rather, Longbottom takes a deep breath, head thrown back, and then screams bloody murder.
Or: Draco and Ron just try to survive 8th year. throw a baby into the mix and it seems bloody unlikely they'll manage - there's somewhat of a potion accident, a cottage by the lake and Neville's a baby.

No, no, it was because if Ron didn’t manage to speak then Draco would find out from the Daily Prophet that Ron had died in a back alley after being hit by a curse from a Death Eater. If Ron didn’t somehow tell Harry the truth now, Draco would never know how he truly felt. Because Draco had made Ron swear to not tell his loved ones they were dating—not yet, not until Draco was ready. And Ron had agreed. But now, as he lay dying on a sidewalk in some random Muggle town, Ron rather wished he would’ve broken that particular promise.
When Ron doesn't return home from a mission as expected, Draco has to swallow his pride and figure out what happened to him.

Carlos has been teaching Kindergarten for a few years now, but when the older brother of one of his students comes into his classroom for career day to talk about being a firefighter, Carlos finds it difficult to keep the lines between professional and personal clear. Maybe if TK weren't so gorgeous, or flirtatious, or confident, it would be easier for Carlos to ignore him. Then again, maybe if Mr. Reyes weren't so handsome, kind, and caring, TK would be able to get Carlos out of his head.
(TK is still a firefighter and the timing is a little different. TK and Owen have been in Austin longer, TK's little brother is 5 and lives in Austin with Gwyn, Owen, and TK. Carlos is a teacher and not a cop, pretty much everything else follows canon.)
