Summary
Life in District 6 might not be easy, but it’s always been Vi’s. She’s got her idiot brothers, Vander, and Powder, with whom Vi would sooner jump the tracks and run off into the wilderness than watch get reaped to participate in the annual Hunger Games. As it turns out, she doesn’t have to do that, but at a cost that may be her life. Vi’s nothing if not a boxer, though, so she’s going out swinging, and if a girl with a rifle and a shaken worldview wants to complicate things, well, what the hell, Vi’ll hear her out. And then there’s the matter of that boy with a timepiece who seems to have more on his mind than survival…

Just before his eleventh birthday, Harry is found in a dark London alleyway. He is subsequently taken to stay in the home of one Severus Snape until he begins Hogwarts. Harry isn't quite sure what possessed him to agree to this arrangement, and Severus has no intention of allowing Potter's unfortunate progeny to get under his skin, but this is a Severitus fic, we all know how it ends.

“Tony?”
With difficulty, Tony raised his head to find Peter standing at the doorway. Through blurred eyes, Tony could see Peter’s tense posture and concerned expression.
“Pet’r, you need s’mthing?” Tony mumbled, trying and failing to pull himself up into a sitting position. Instead, he slumped forward, and he might have slammed his face straight back against the toilet if Peter hadn’t darted forward and caught him by the shoulders in his deceptively strong grip.
Right. His kid was a goddamn superhero with the proportional strength of a spider. He loved his little mutant child. Or was he a mutate? Perhaps it wasn’t the best time for him to attempt to determine Peter’s superhuman status when he could barely formulate a sentence.

Tony gripped both his shoulders firmly. “Being hurt by someone doesn’t make you weak.”

“Pepper would be able to do it,” Tony said tonelessly, his eyes following the movement of the nail rotating between his thumb and forefinger. He hated how his voice still wavered when he said her name.
“Tony, I know,” said Rhodey, his tone soft. “We’ve all lost people, everyone has-”
“Don’t you think I know that?” Tony said angrily, yanking his wrist out of Rhodey’s grasp. He pulled back, but Rhodey lurched forward and grabbed his upper arms in a harsh grip, shaking him once.
“Damn it, Tony, this isn’t about winning the world’s best parent award,” Rhodey snapped. “There are millions of kids out there, millions, who’ve lost their parents and have nowhere to go.”
He caught Tony’s eye.
“That’s something you can do, Tony, give a kid a place to go.”

Seven-some months after the Snap, the world is still reeling from its loss. The city is overrun with countless orphaned children, so anyone even remotely capable of housing a kid is asked to pitch in. Tony can hardly say no, but when he stares down at the scrawny, wide-eyed fourteen-year-old looking up at him in the entrance of the lab, Tony has never been more out of his depth.
