Summary
It’s been years since the Calamity was foretold, and the hero of Hyrule has yet to be discovered.
Instead, Hyrule is faced with the threat of the Lost Bandit, a notorious outlaw who steals wealth from the nobles, only to disseminate it among the poor.
Desperate to find the hero that will protect Hyrule both from the Calamity and from the Lost Bandit, the king arranges a tournament to determine the best of the best, using his own daughter’s hand as bait.
Little does he know that the Lost Bandit intends to enter the tournament himself and reunite with his lost love, Princess Zelda, at any cost.

It’s what he said to her after the Yiga ambush in the desert and she couldn’t breathe through her tears, caught in the idea that she was going to die. He broke every single protocol that was drilled into him by their fathers and curled around her in the sand, holding her in his arms until the knot in her chest loosened and she could tell him to let go.
I have you, he had whispered in her ear, speaking more than a word to her for the first time since the day of his assignment, You’re okay. I have you.
“Just one step,” she echoes, and takes it, stepping out onto the ice and slipping her hands into his.

Before, Link teaches Zelda how to ice skate. After, Zelda returns the favor.

Five months following the end of the events of Tears of the Kingdom, Link and Zelda return home to Hateno, overseeing the rebuilding of Castle Town from afar as the Princess readjusts herself to her previous life. But the past haunts her still, seeding doubts as to her fitness to lead the people of Hyrule. A surprise pregnancy has the hero and his princess running to the Sheikah for advice. Turns out there's a lot more to expanding the royal family than either had imagined. Zelda's doubts follow her like shadows. Even the Master Sword isn't sharp enough to cut through the memories of centuries of perceived failure. Rebuild Castle Town, re-establish the monarchy, resolve unprocessed trauma, and learn how to change diapers? It's a lot for a princess and her appointed knight to handle.
