i must have been hiking for quite a while cause this is PEAK. like literally fuck everything this is THE BEST Stranger Things fic I have EVERRRR read. The pacing, the prose, the characterisation, the story... truly a masterpiece, and I write this while there are only four chapters out. This is a must read if you also think the D*ffers fucked up astronomically and need a good season 5 rewrite

Summary
The Inteyvat blossoms soften in Dainsleif's gloved hands, colour sweeping back into the petals, the palest of blue and purest of white. The flowers glow with renewed life before dissolving slowly into dust, dispersing with the wind.
Halfdan looks up at Dainsleif, meets that unwavering gaze, and speaks the words that his heart has always known. "Dain, I'm home."
(Halfdan wakes up at the border that separates life and death with only the memory of his name, a cluster of hardened flowers in his hands, and a young woman with a mischievous grin on her face and a glowing firewood staff in her hands, staring right at him.
Hu Tao has plenty to say to this being that is not quite dead and whose continued existence is definitely unnatural, but given Halfdan’s rather stubborn will to live, she might just have to make another exception to her duties of maintaining the natural order.
AKA a canon-compliant Halfdain fix-it fic set after the events of 2.6 Requiem of the Echoing Depths).
