Summary
When something kills Patrick and leaves only his mangled corpse thrown into the lake like a broken doll, Jason does not hesitate to dive. He cannot leave his friend; he must save at least his body. But it’s March, he’s in the middle of the lake, in the water, which after the initial heat of the chase becomes icy again, and it’s impossible to drag Patrick to the shore all by himself. Help comes from an unexpected source. From his stupid boat, Eddie "the Freak" Munson — soaking wet, curly hair stuck to his face — holds out his hand. The prey wants to help its hunter...

Summary
“Looks like I bit you.” Will tilts his head to get a better look. All Mike can do is stare at him. His fluffy hair at the front, clumped pieces at the back where he’d slid his fingers in a mere few minutes before. His pretty green eyes that look hazel or even brown in this light, the dark circles he gets when he drinks framing them like intricate paintings. A satisfied, bloody smile.
Mike isn’t satisfied. He swallows thickly, choking down the words 'don’t you want more?'
Or: Will dresses as a vampire for a college halloween party, but Mike thinks his costume isn’t bloody enough. Will lets him fix it. Mike goes into a crisis.

Bookmarker's Notes
One of the best Byler works in existence. The author is, like, a certified prophet, it fits perfectly even, or especially after the disaster of the final season.

Summary
“So…” Steve broke the awkward silence. “What happened?”
“Nothing.” Which was essentially the truth.
“Did you ask her to dance?”
Of course Steve wasn’t going to let it go. Dustin was clearly beyond nonchalant about the whole thing, so he tried for indifferent. “Duh.”
“And she said – ”
Dustin thumped his head against the car seat. “She said no! Holy shit, Steve. Read the room.”

Summary
“Hear me out.” Dustin held his hands up in a calming gesture. “I.” He pointed at himself. “Have never kissed anyone. And you.” He pointed at Steve. “Have kissed lots of people.”
Steve looked almost offended at that. “What do you mean by a lot?”

Summary
“I can see just fine,” Will snaps. He doesn’t even want to have this conversation with Mike in the first place. If he did, it would’ve been a long time ago. “Why do you even care?”
“Why do I—” Mike splutters. “Because I care, Will! I care about you.”
Honestly — what was Mike expecting? That the past month didn’t happen? That they aren’t being weird again? The end of a literal apocalypse did more harm to their friendship than good, apparently, and it’s not something either of them can ignore.
Or,
The world is no longer ending. Half of them have moved into the WSQK. Max is learning how to walk again, Mike is hanging out with Robin Buckley, of all people, and Will—
—still hasn’t told anyone that he can’t see out of his eye.

Bookmarker's Notes
Gotta be one of my favourite Byler fics. It reads like a movie in the best possible sense. I could actually see and hear them in my mind's eye, theatre of the mind thing. Felt so natural. All unresolved plot issues of S4 and S5 addressed so beautifully.

Summary
Mike Wheeler has always been the storyteller, the one who keeps everyone else’s lives in order, but his own heart has been a story he’s too scared to tell.
After graduation, at a party full of laughter, music, and friends, Mike can’t look away as Will dances with someone else. He's smiling, laughing, and seemingly moving on. Every glance, every touch, every moment that isn’t with him twists something inside Mike he’s tried so hard to ignore.
As the night stretches on, Mike realizes he can’t keep running from what he feels, and that maybe, just maybe, having Will by his side could be the only thing worth facing his fears for.
