Summary
Jean does not know when the mark shows up for certain. What he knows is that during his freshman year in between the first horrible night and the next, the words JEAN MOREAU? JEREMY KNOX. show up on the back of his neck where only the others could see. Thirty minutes later, everyone knew.
“Yes?” Jean Moreau’s voice is hoarse, tinny through the phone, and his accent shortens the reply by a half-syllable, but it doesn’t matter. Because he is an idiot, Jeremy’s heart swoops into his stomach. Again. Like every other time he hears the word. He takes an embarrassingly long moment to collect himself, breathing out through his nose and ignoring the phantom tingling on the inside of his left thigh. It’s not happening.
__Or: the first words your soulmate ever says to you are inked somewhere on your body, if you're lucky. Against sense, this does not make things easier for Jean Moreau and Jeremy Knox.

Summary
The offer from Jean's gang-affiliated coworker is pretty tempting: kidnap rich kid Jeremy Knox and get a decent cut when his family coughs up the ransom for his safe return. Jean is positively desperate for something to finally go right in his life, so if the offer seems a little too good to be true and the abduction goes a little too smoothly, then he can't be held responsible for missing the signs that something is definitely off about this job. About Jeremy Knox.

Summary
Sometimes, when Jean shows up, the soft rev of his motorcycle announcing his arrival, James joins him and they work in comfortable silence together. Other times, James steps into his backyard after a day out of the house, and the only signs Jean has been there are the neatly trimmed bushes, weedless soil, and a basket full of fresh vegetables sitting on the back steps.
5 AM for a student-athlete who had played a tough game the night before is just too early for James to let slide. He sighs and flicks on the coffee machine before making his way outside.
Or, a collection of moments where Jean gardens and Rhemann helps his kid heal.
