Summary
"Spinning on that dizzy edge," Mike starts moving side to side, "I kissed her face and I kissed her head. Dreamed of all the different ways I had to make her glow—"
"Mike—"
"Why are you so far away, she said?" Mike continues, half his words are spoken and not sung due to the laughter clinging to his tongue. "Why won't you ever know I'm in love with you? That I'm in love with you."
"Mike, Mike—" Will laughs loudly, only to realize his mistake and quiet down immediately. Mike almost wishes he didn't as he makes a deal with himself that he wants to make Will laugh like this for the rest of his life. "Mike!"
"I'm not stopping until you sing with me," Mike tells him. "You started this. These are the rules."
OR
Mike wakes up alone in the dorm and finds Will in the laundry room folding their clothes in the middle of the night

Summary
When Neil Josten gets arrested for a fake ID and thrown into the Juvenile Detention System, he knows that he's running on borrowed time before his father's men catch up.
His mother is dead, there's nowhere to run, there's nothing left at all but an Exy court at the Oakland County Detention Center that he has to earn the right to play on through good behavior.
And Neil's never been great at obeying rules.

Summary
“I don’t know how to do this,” Neil whispers.
The admission cracks something inside him and he has to look up and away. His eyes burn.
“Seventy percent,” he says. “Seventy percent of the time I let them take you through that door I never see you again. I don’t know—”
The words choke in his throat like thorns. He meets Andrew’s gaze like a drowning man seeking the sun. “How do I deal with never seeing you again?”

Summary
“You don’t remember, do you?” And there was that laid bare feeling again, like Andrew, with his careful steady hands, was peeling back every layer of lies Neil was built on. “I haven’t seen you scared of Kevin since Millport.”
Millport. Sounded like the name of a town him and his mother would melt into, hiding themselves among small town niceties and miles of empty stretches of road. As far as he could remember, he’d never been to a Millport. How much time was he missing?
---
Or, Neil takes a hit to the head and wakes up missing two years. He doesn’t know where he is, or who he’s supposed to be to the worried strangers filling his hospital room.

Summary
Will was practically entranced as Robin spoke, and he saw how happy she was in her relationship. He wanted something like that for himself so badly it made his chest ache, “How obvious,” he asked breathlessly.
“Let’s say, the uh, snowball became an avalanche,” Robin whispered to him like a shared secret. Will glanced away for a moment. Robin’s words made sense, and even more importantly, they felt familiar. Familiar in a way he almost didn’t dare to believe, because if he was wrong, he worried he would never come back from the heartbreak of it all…
Or... The five times that Mike was incredibly obvious about his feelings for Will during the 18 months they lived together, and the one time Will did something about it.

Summary
“Shut up.”
“I didn’t say anything–”
“Sleep, Neil.” Andrew’s tone is demanding, and before Neil can even argue back further, he breaks out in a yawn. He rolls his eyes at Andrew’s slight smug expression, and slips his eyes closed. Neil places his hand back out next to him, and feels a fluttering in his chest when Andrew links their pinkies together. It’s enough.
It has to be.
