Summary
A series of eight sequential fics, each one from the point of view of one of the characters in "The Body". A look at how each one copes with the events, how they deal and pull themselves back together and move on. Some of the Scoobies reach out for help, or to help others. Some pull further in on themselves than ever. And one of the most traumatic events in Buffy's life turns out to set the stage for yet more tragedy to come.

Summary
Faith’s hope is if she just sounds South Boston enough, she can get out of this easy. Something about her accent gets these West Coast girlies all weak-kneed no matter how she uses it. It’s a shade of Hot Girl Privilege that Faith didn’t even know she had, before moving here.
Sadly, not much of a privilege in this case. Tara and Willow are too gay for each other to be seduced by it, too comfy with Faith to be intimidated by it, and Buffy—well, Buffy’s hammered to Hell and she doesn’t kiss girls.

Summary
Faith whistles low, keeps her face neutral, though she can’t control the way her heart speeds up at the sight of the wound, the way there’s this sudden urgent pressure at the back of her skull when she takes it in. It’s worse than she thought. It must hurt like hell.
“You should see the other guy,” Buffy jokes, a little strained, and that’s when Faith realizes how long she’s been staring, how she’s reached out absently to touch Buffy.
She snatches her hand back out of the air, shoves it in her pockets. “Don’t think you left enough of him behind to look at, B. Let’s get you home, we’ll clean that up.”
“Your place,” Buffy says, instead.

She is standing there looking at Ted on the floor and there is this exhausted ringing in her ears, because her mom is going to wake up and her mom is going to freak out about Buffy killing Ted again, just like her mom couldn’t look at her while they were driving to the police station.
Buffy looks at Ted on the floor and then she goes over and calls Giles. It goes to voicemail.

Summary
People died when Buffy failed. Jesse, Principal Flutie, Fritz, Morgan, Kevin. The names came to her mind, too many and too fast for her to process them. And those where the ones she had actually met. What about the ones vampires had killed because she had been too busy ‘having a life’ to catch on patrol, too slow to stake?
There isn’t a single word written in her test. She had already failed, because Ms. Yung is in front of her, taking her paper, which meant that time was over for her. She has failed, and Buffy knows it won’t be the last time.
Failing twice is a privilege, especially when the blood that pays for her mistakes isn’t hers.
“I can take her to the bathroom, Ms. Yung, I already finished my test anyway”

With all the monsters she faces day to day, it seems laughable that the thing that sends her into a panic attack is some stupid test.

Max glances at her, an odd sort of look on her face, halfway between amusement and confusion. "I- I don't know," she says, bewildered, "It was a joke, mostly. I just meant- it's kind of a romantic scene, don't you think?"
El's frown deepens. "I guess," she says, because she supposes she could see it- there had been a split second, right before Max spoken up, where she'd expected something else to happen, although she hadn't exactly been sure what. "They are friends, though."
"That's what they all say," Max hums.
Every time El thinks she has this society thing figured out, someone throws her for a loop.

“I like the hair,” Max murmurs. And, oh. El had forgotten. She’s tried to avoid her reflection since she left NINA. She doesn’t like how young she looks in the mirror, short hair and dark eyes and her chin that trembles even when she tries to be strong.
“Lucas said it was this short when they first met you,” Max says, “but I never got to see it.” Her fingers trail down from the top of El’s head and trace across her cheek. She brushes away a tear El hadn’t realized she’d cried. “I like it,” Max repeats.

“Do you have an electric razor?”
Eddie blinks. Then slowly nods. “Uh. Yeah, I think so? Haven’t used it in a while, obviously.” He tugs at a piece of his hair pointedly. “But I think Uncle Wayne’s got one rattling around in the bathroom. Why?”
Max purses her lips. Readjusts her grip on her crutch. “I want to shave my head. Like El.” And then, quickly, “If you don’t want to help me I’ll use my mom’s kitchen scissors.”

El woke up coughing, a mixture of blood and dust coating her mouth as she tried desperately to pull in a full breath. She was on her stomach, wedged under… something, she couldn’t tell what. She cracked an eye open, almost immediately closing it again when pain shot through her head.
“Hopper?” She whimpered.
There was no response.
