The room is dark. When had it gotten dark outside? Alex frowns. He’s not nearly close to being finished with his first draft. He switches back to his tab on JSTOR. There are other ways to die, beyond the physical; slowly and agonizingly, locking the truth away until it’s indistinguishable from the lies. And there are other ways to live; slowly and carefully and secretly, and then out loud, all at once.
