“I didn’t, and we’re not,” Tashi glares, waiting for him to get it.
“Oh, that asshole,” it finally clicks.

“When did you take this picture…” He was stunned looking back at this picture. The clarity of the indents from Art’s perfect teeth. Patrick’s skin red from the initial irritation. He supposed he should just be lucky Art didn’t break skin. Slightly disturbed but those stupid butterflies are persistent in his stomach (and his dick), it's making him sick.
“While you were sleeping. I thought it was funny.” Art shrugged, not paying much attention to the topic. He was digging through Patrick’s backpack for something.
Patrick rolled his eyes but he can’t keep fooling Art. Art knows when there’s fondness is those eyes. “You need a fucking muzzle you know that? You’re like a puppy or something.”
“So tell me to stop when I do it.”
OR
Patrick’s parents are not interested in being a real family while Art has no family. They meet at Coachella. Sex and rampant drug and alcohol abuse ensue. One of them might be a little more addicted than the other. Patrick has commitment issues. Neither of them know how to set real boundaries.

Consistency is key and they use the same tactics at the Montessori school he goes to and it works for them,” Patrick shrugs, still eyeing where Levi and Art are talking. Levi is curled up in Art’s lap now. He’s gotten so big so fast Patrick feels like he’s getting whiplash. Levi still has those bright blue eyes and blonde hair. It’s fuller now, and starting to curl up more. A new feature being the freckles that started to appear all over his face, similar to Patrick’s own.
“Right…right. All my mom had to do was look at me and I’d stop acting up. I knew better,” Tashi continues, taking another sip.
“That’s because you were threatened with violence. This is different. We don’t wanna use physical discipline, is that so bad? You didn’t spank Lily either so…”
“Well she never threw tantrums really, she was a pretty chill kid.”
“And Levi’s a bad kid?”

When I first read Limerence by Gefionne, I was so completely taken by her Hux–there's no denying he's a pompous, unreasonable asshole most of the time, but through his cracks you can see his emotional wounds and these delicate things he tries to keep hidden, and, oh, I just felt for him. And furthermore, I so love the way that Ben comes to love him–because then isn't there hope for all of us?? So I wondered, often, what an epilogue would look like, and although I know this isn't very far into the future for them, I thought that there wouldn't reasonably be much of a future if they didn't at some point figure out that all relationships–but especially long-distance ones–really, really benefit from actual communication.
