The kid snorts, “what, do you work in R&D at your own company?” When Tony just gives him a blank look he clears his throat, “nevermind. So if you can build a missile I bet you can figure out a way to get us out of here.”
Tony sighs, turning his face away. He’s so tired. “I can’t build them that weapon, kid.”
Now it’s the kid’s turn to look confused. “Then build something else,” he says simply.

Tobirama could map the spread of a poison, trace the arc of a contagion. But this was something else. A pressure building beneath the surface of every mind in Konoha, eroding restraint, whispering that want was reason enough.
He’d already ruled out infection, chakra interference, genjutsu, mass hysteria. None of it accounted for the same hollow look in the eyes of some of the villagers or the sudden hunger that burned through the rest. Something deeper was threading through them all, and it had started here—seven days ago.
At the center of it sat the merchant’s gift he confiscated from Kagami.

Senju Tobirama’s wife is not happy with where they stand.

When Tobirama first met Hikaku, the man was so bland and unassuming, he almost overlooked him entirely. He’d only drawn attention when Madara had nudged him forward to meet Hashirama, hands on his shoulders and introducing him to the Senju as the best candidate for this arrangement to work.
(When Tobirama first heard of the arrangement, a small part of him wanted Izuna to be offered. Because he won against Izuna, so logically he deserves his pick of an Uchiha bride. But his brother is a weak, weak man who would walk on water if it meant that Madara would be happy. So he is given Hikaku, and he does not complain despite how pleased Madara looks at having the upper hand. He does think of how much better their victory would taste if it was the prideful Izuna at his side, subdued and demure and not some hapless nobody.)

Summary
In the fragile aftermath of the Senju-Uchiha peace treaty, Uchiha Hikaku carves out a quiet, repetitive life where he wakes up, visits Izuna, works with Madara, then goes home. Gone are the days of bloodshed and sleepless nights. He doesn't do much in his day to day life, but his hands shake less with each passing day.
There are not many betas in the Senju clan. It's not like they're elusive, just uncommon and independent in a way that other sub-genders are not. And that's why Tobirama takes a liking to the Uchiha beta. It does not go beyond a simple, scientific curiosity that will disappear once he's finished with his research.
(His teeth ache whenever he catches sight of the beta's unmarked neck. It's ignorable now, but Tobiama has always had a possessive streak.)
