“Okay, I think our gate is over that way,” Jeremy pointed while Jean followed behind him, grumbling in French as he tried to situate Jabberwocky’s dog carrier and his suitcase.
“I can hold his bag if —“
“I have got it,” Jean snapped back quickly.
“Okay,” Jeremy laughed, holding up his hands and continuing to lead them through the crowded airport towards their gate.
Jean followed closely behind Jeremy, checking every five seconds, it seemed to make sure Jabberwocky was still content through the mesh of his dog carrier. The number of people at LAX was overwhelming. Flight after flight was being announced over the overhead speakers, and it felt like a million conversations were going on at once. Jeremy may have been saying something to Jean, but he couldn’t really make it out over the jumble of noise.
They finally found their gate and two open chairs to wait in.
Jean took Jabberwocky out of his carrier immediately, and the dog curled up in his lap, shaking ever so slightly.
“He doesn’t like this,” Jean said, petting him.
“I know,” Jeremy said with a concerned smile, but he was looking at Jean rather than the little beast.
