Summary
Buck had thought the black mask that completely covers the top half of the guy's face looked silly, when he'd seen it on the news.
Now, with the man in front of him, he realizes why no one jokes about the vigilante's appearance. Even though he clearly doesn't perceive Buck as a threat, he seems like a mountain rather than a real person. All of his muscles look toned, and there's something dangerous in the set of his shoulders. Still, he offers Buck a small smile, one that kind of reminds him of Eddie's. He reaches his hands down to help Buck stand. It puts the man's biceps next to his face.
Buck swallows. Be normal when you talk to the hot vigilante, he thinks to himself.
"You know they make bigger shirt sizes, right?" he asks instead.

Summary
Athena doesn’t know if she has any advice or ability to talk about any serious subjects with Buck today. Or any day honestly. Buck is too similar to her, too similar to Bobby and she just can’t handle it. She hates that. Hates that she dreads when he’s in the same room as her, nervous when he looks her way.
Buck’s nervous energy is radiating off him. She can feel his approach. “Athena, hi.” He made it. He finally broke through the invisible barrier she’s had since Bobby…since then.

“Would you fire me?” Eddie follows up, because now he’s burning with desire to know. “If you were captain and I pulled something like that?”
“I would never fire you.”
“Why not?” Eddie folds his arms and quirks an eyebrow. “What about the chain of comm—”
“If you say chain of command, I will crash the car,” Buck interjects.
908 coda. Eddie stops keeping some secrets of his own, he and Buck talk, and Eddie discovers that fear may very well be the thief of joy.

Buck blinks. “You mean smoking?”
“No! I mean—yes. I mean—Jesus, Buck, do you know what you look like?”
Buck tilts his head the other way, which is even worse, somehow. “What exactly is this about…?”
“It’s about the fact that you smoke like it’s porn.”
Buck stares.
Eddie throws up his hands. “You smoke like it’s foreplay, okay?! I can’t—Jesus—I can’t think when you do it.”
Buck’s expression does a strange thing. It falters, shifts, and then slides into something dangerous.
"Wait,” Buck says, slow and low, “are you saying you’re into it?”
