Summary
The Derry midnight breeze is freezing, Eddie notes, still dressed in a shirt and pants and dreading having to get rid of them. He’s bare foot now, standing on top of the quarry and peering down into the glinting lake. Eddie’s jumping from one foot to the other, annoyed that dirt is clinging to his skin and branches are piercing his soles, even more aggravated at the idea of cleaning them in infection filled lake water.
Next to him, also bare foot, Richie looks over his shoulder, and laughs, bright and innocent.

Summary
The last time Richie truly remembers feeling safe, he is five years old.
If he’d have known then everything that he would come to lose, he might’ve dug his heels in a little more. Refused to let the hours fade. Basked in the glory of a childhood free from the dangers of Derry.
As it is, it’s incredibly fucking pathetic to know he hasn’t felt safe since he was five. Not to mention it’s dramatic as all fucking hell.

Summary
When Richie is the victim of a home invasion and ends up in the hospital with a head injury, the idyllic life he has built with Eddie is suddenly shattered. It soon becomes apparent that while he still recognizes Eddie, Richie has absolutely no memory of their romantic involvement or their marriage. Eddie is simply his ‘bestie’, and Eddie is left wondering if Richie’s feelings for him died in the attack.
