They’re playing sewerball, Jack’s compression leggings riding up with every kick when the ball comes his way.
He doesn’t realise Jesper is behind him until he feels an arm wrap around his neck, trapping him in a headlock. He can hear Jesper laughing in his ear, so he laughs along too. It's a bit uncomfortable though, almost too tight. So Jack lifts his own arm up, subtly tries to loosen Jesper's grip.
Jack’s three, he doesn’t know the words for it. But when his dad says, “Show me how he hurt you,” In the middle of the living room Jack lifts a small, pudgy hand and wraps it around his dad’s throat. He squeezes until his dad says okay. Quinn got sent upstairs to his room, between the tears falling down Jack’s face and the red ringed mark around his neck, Jack wonders if he got Quinn into trouble.
