It’s not the food. The food is the same it always has been, ever since her arrival years ago. It’s something else, something in the atmosphere. She glances down the left side of the table first—Gangle sits at the farthest end, doodling in her notebook, and Pomni is next to her, listening to Kinger beside her as he rambles on about something or another. On the other far end of the table, Zooble adds in the occasional input but is mostly quiet. And beside Ragatha, on her right, Jax is—
Oh. That’s it. Jax. He hasn’t said a word all dinner.

Summary
Pomni, despite everything, has settled into a routine amidst the constant daily cacophony and chaos of the digital circus, one she desperately keeps to preserve that fragile, ever-doubtful shred of humanity that still manages to exist within her. She tries to, anyway even if certain bunny-eared castmates were seemingly determined to do everything in their power to disturb said routine, and make her wonder whether the urge to fight to keep something genuine alive in a fake, plastic world is really worth it after all.
When Caine's newest adventure sends the troupe on a ski resort day trip, however, she may finally get the answers she's been waiting for. Whether they'll be exactly what she's been hoping for, however, is another question entirely.
Or, the one where Jax and Pomni have another fight, get stuck on a ski lift, and things pretty much spiral from there.

An unsettling crackling fills her ears and a sharp electric feeling buzzes through her veins. Her stomach flips, and the feeling of falling overtakes her senses. A wave of darkness fades in and out of her vision. She gasps desperately as her senses come back. Forehead on the ground she takes in the feeling of crusted old carpet fibers under her skin. Her eyes flutter open to an old office room, papers scattered about. She slowly brings her calloused fingertips to her face, holding it tightly. “What the fuck?” She whispers, glancing around. She’s met with an old computer with an absurdly colorful screen.
tldr; everyone escapes the circus but has no memory of it :)
