Caring about someone like this - the hard way, the way that makes you lose sleep and the ability to do so much as take a shit in peace - is new to him, and a complete pain in the ass. But the second the initial shock of Makima's offer to take him on a trip with her wore off, he knew he had to buckle down and say no. He knew he had to stay.
