Ilya nearly loses it when Shane demonstrates the ‘plow’, his legs over his head and ass fully suspended in the air. He swears he pops a vein when Shane is in a reclined middle split—now that’s just cruel to his psyche.
However, nothing could’ve prepared Ilya for—

Sure, the pose itself was easy enough. So easy, in fact, that Shane gets into the position without second thought. He had cemented it the moment he found Death itself lapping at the side of his neck, a hunger so foreign, so desperate from anything that Matthew had experienced in his mortal life. That night, he became Death’s very own God.
Or, Matthew dies and a grim reaper comes to collect his soul. Life had fucked him over, but he was hoping Death would fuck him harder.

Even the lines on the sides of its eyes as they crinkled into crescents appeared perfectly positioned, such as the moles that decorated its face. Matthew smiled at him with an artificial warmth that mimicked genuine fondness.
If Gunwook didn’t know any better, he would have believed that Matthew was just as real as he was.

Matthew smiled, his gaze far into the distance. The sky painted golden streaks on his blonde hair and fair skin. It was a scene reminiscent to the day Taerae noticed Matthew’s etherealness against the sunset for the very first time.
“Then, just promise me you’d sing it for me in the future once you do, okay?”
“Okay, I promise.” Taerae whispered.
There was that word again. Promise. A word that Matthew and Taerae had shared with one another countless times that it became synonym to hello or good night.
The two always made promises, knowing they were only said for comfort to disguise the inevitable uncertainty of what their futures would hold.
