    Summary

The only thing that can take Hermione's mind off of how much she loathes her repugnant Potions partner are the notes from her mysterious pen pal.

And as for Pansy? She just wants to find a way to cast a permanent Silencio on Granger, and to reply to the charming stranger on the other end of her magical parchment.

    Summary

Seven didn’t really think about her destination, once she shot her way out of the bar and off of Freecloud. She didn’t regenerate, either, she just… went. She slept and woke in her pilot’s chair, pausing only to consume yet another flavorless ration bar, her movements nearly an extension of the ship running on autopilot to its heading. After days at high warp, she found herself arriving at what felt like the only possible destination there was.

    Summary

She picks up one of the chess pieces and fingers it fondly. “I must admit, I had a bit of a hot head in those days. I believe I told everyone that they probably couldn’t win if they played against me anyway - that the logic was much too complex for them. But if they did dare, I’d go easy on them.”
“And what happened,” Mildred rests an elbow on the table and leans closer, intrigued.
“Well, this girl I hardly knew, who never spoke except for in class, but who always got top marks, sat down across the table and informed me that so long as I explained the rules to her, there was no need to go easy.”
    “Miss Hardbroom?!”
“That’s the one,” says Pippa grinning at the memory.

    ****

Mildred suffers a heartbreaking loss, but as she grows up she discovers that family comes in all forms.
