“You don’t want this, Tommy,” Wilbur finally said when it became clear he wasn’t going to convince Tommy he was just too much of a pacifist for this kind of role. “You don’t want to be linked to me like this.”
For the first time since this argument started, Tommy looked surprised by Wilbur’s words. “Why wouldn’t I?”
A bitter laugh bubbled up Wilbur’s throat, spilling like tar into the air between them. “Don’t play dumb.”
“I’m not playing dumb! Why wouldn’t I want to be soulbound to you?” Tommy challenged. “You always said it didn’t matter that we weren’t blood-related. That we’re fuckin’ family. It’s always been you and me before anything-”
“Our lives are supposed to belong to Lady Prime first,” Wilbur cut in weakly.
Tommy scoffed. “Now you’re the one playing dumb.”
or, within the ranks of The Order, mages who bind their souls together are some of the most powerful of all. Summary
After an accident befalls his parents, Roman Cyrus is left with his eleven-year-old brother and more responsibility than he believes he can handle. With bills of Virgil’s therapy and education piling up, rent for the apartment and even weekly grocery shopping becoming too much to handle, Roman isn’t sure how much longer he can last.
Demetrius Donovan, a powerful man with more money than he knows what to do with and a kill count to match, only planned to be in the city long enough to tie up a loose end. He wasn’t looking for a good time on the wet streets of New York, but he isn’t going to protest when a particularly attractive exotic dancer pushes himself into his arms.
Between the two of them, 'destiny' never seemed like something that could exist. And maybe it doesn't.
But this seems just as good.
