    “Oh my god, Steve,” She finally snapped into it and kicked the umbrella aside so she could step forwards, and her hand gently curled around his upper arm to help him in the house. “What happened?”

    He winced as he stepped into the house, and she guided his hand to her shoulder so he could brace himself as she shut the front door behind them. “Would you believe me if I said I tripped over?”

    The joke was poorly attempted, and she did nothing but frown as she led him into the kitchen – she debated letting him relax in her bed, but she didn’t even know if he could make it up the stairs. “No,” she mumbled as she helped him into a chair, not letting him go until he finished groaning as he leant back. “What happened, Steve?”
