Big Bear, running, the knife— cold metal piercing her skin before she can really process it; agony she’s suffered a million times and never before; a thought buried beneath the pain: this is what it must have felt like for Chimney before he died. Then the struggle— scrabbling for the knife in the snow— taking the life of the man who took hers — and stumbling, blind and bleeding, across an endless snowscape.
