March stares.
The mermaid stares back.
"Um," she says, laughing nervously, "hang on a moment. I'll just -" She does the one thing she always knows how to do when she gets into trouble: pull out her phone and call Dan Heng. He picks up within three rings. Before he can even get a word in, she takes a deep breath, looks to the grey skies, and says: "I'm invoking the 'no judgement' clause of our friendship."
The ensuing shout of "What did you do?!" is enough for even the mermaid to jump.

"I have always paid attention," Dan Heng says, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "But I have only recently come to realize that observation without action has little value, when action is what is required."
That sounds more profound than it should, out of Dan Heng's mouth. "Am I really coming off that pathetic?"
"Would you not do the same for me?" Which isn't a no, actually.
