It was odd to be a motherless child whose entire existence was shaped by that dead mom. On those quiet days in the woods approaching her teens, the Baker’s Son began to think of something new, to wonder what it would be like to become the Baker’s Daughter. There were herbs enough in the forest for it, and the Baker already had two daughters, of a sort. Would it be so bad to give him a third? The Baker’s Child was already wild, hair twining long like the vines in the forest, and sometimes looked a little more fey than human, and the changes wouldn’t be so much. Yes, she would just start, and see if anyone noticed.
