Summary
If Izzy is honest with himself, he had been waiting for Ed to end their relationship ever since Stede Bonnet came into their lives. It had been torture watching Ed flourish under Stede’s attention, watching him make Ed happy in a way Izzy had never been capable of. But even so, Izzy had expected divorce papers, for Ed to kick him out, fire him, just fucking tell him something, anything.
As cracks start to form in their marriage, Ed takes a sledgehammer to the foundation. Is this finally something Izzy cannot forgive, or will it be the kick in the ass they need to find each other again?

Summary
It's not without issues-- Oluwande often doubts himself under pressure, and Izzy is still Izzy, abrasive to a fault and quick to anger. But they find a rhythm between them. Oluwande listens, really listens, and Izzy finds a little bit more patience in himself for a willing student. There's more than once that Izzy catches himself smiling, feeling relaxed, and several more that he sees Olu is, too. He wouldn't have thought that he could have this with someone who he hadn’t suffered alongside, but here they are. It's nice.
When Oluwande asks Izzy for his help in becoming a better sailor, he doesn't think much of it. Still recovering from his near-death experience, he’s not capable of doing his duties around the ship like he used to, and this way he can be of use to the crew in another way. But doubt creeps in as they progress through the lessons. Izzy can't help but think that there's something more to Olu’s request.

Summary
It felt weird tagging for the relationship, since this fic is in fact focusing on Izzy trying to recover and live his life (and perform in his and the crew's drag show at Jackie's) after what's supposed to be, truly this time, his and Ed's final breakup. So the relationship is there, but just always in the background in a painful sort of way. The plot also ties into the general vague plot of the song used in the performance, Roses by Adam Lambert (this is all also to keep me on theme for Drag Week's Day One prompt) so I do highly recommend giving it a listen (even if you don't read the fic, just go listen to it anyway, absolute banger.)
TW for emetophobia and mentions of hanahaki as a trope (as a part of his performance in accordance with the show's overall theme.)
