Summary
Shane and Ilya once knew each other in what feels like another life. Years later, Shane has transitioned, buried his past and finally embraced his truest self. He comes to McGill to play on the men’s hockey team—only to find his roommate is Ilya Rozanov.
“Sorry—um.” Shane swallowed. “I’m Shane.”
Something passed across Ilya’s face, quick and unreadable. Shane’s pulse spiked, thudding loud in his ears. Did he know? If Ilya recognized him—if something clicked—what would stop him from telling the coaches? What would stop him from telling everyone?
Then Ilya smoothed it away, the moment gone as if it had never existed.“Huh,” he said. “Funny. I used to know a Shane. Pretty girl. Good at hockey.”
Shane’s eyes widened. His mouth went dry. Was Ilya fucking with him?
“Oh—um. I—”
“Relax,” Ilya cut in, lips curling into something almost amused, almost sharp. “You are very pretty, too.”

Summary
This is the deal: Ilya and Shane don't know each other. Shane’s there to relax. He’s there to grab a beer and watch whatever’s on the bar TV and speak to no one. Ilya might approach him, or might not. It’s not up to Shane. If he has to wait, he waits. No questions once they’re in it, but there will be nothing unsafe, no doing anything that’d show up on a medical. Shane’s job is to trust—to believe a little.
Again, this is the deal: Shane takes what he’s given.

“Pretty sure warming up Shane Hollandbear’s heart and making a wish isn’t putting any strain on your ankle,” Boodram pointed out.-
When Shane misses a few away games due to a minor injury, the Centaurs take him to Build-A-Bear to make Ilya a Shane bear so he'll be less unbearable (pun unintended) during the roadtrip. It absolutely makes the employee's day.
