    Summary

    Donnie chuckled under his breath.

    “What?” Raph asked.

“Nothing. I thought that squirrel seemed a little nutty.” Donnie paused, eyebrows raised, but Raph did not give him the satisfaction of a laugh. “Uh, nevermind. The fridge works fine. It’s just the lightbulb that’s out.”

“Oh, great,” Raph said. “Give it a twist and let’s get the hell out of here.”

    “Mikey would’ve laughed.”

    “I’m not Mikey.”

    “No,” Donnie sighed. “You’re not.”

Raph wished he remembered enough about his youngest brother to understand all the nuanced layers of meaning in Donnie’s statement. But since he didn’t, Raph let it pass.

    ------

The M-Bomb has detonated over New York City. Having lost his family and his memory, Raph wanders through an apocalypse with nothing to tie him to his past except his brother, Donatello.

    Will they survive?!?!?! (probably not)

    Summary

He cannot honor the dead the way Mikey does, forcing the world to hold onto his image for as long as he can, nor the way Leo does, weaving Raph's mask into the handle of his sword, keeping a silent vigil with it every night.

Donnie is who he is, and he misses Raph accordingly.

He tries to build a robot.

    Summary

After the end, time splits down the middle—Before and After. This is Before. The Kraang are not yet here. The world is still beautiful, and Leo's brothers are alive.

Leo keeps a daily log in the apocalypse. If only the past stopped trying to be relived.

    Summary

“I’m not here to yell at you,” Leo finally grits out, sounding a little like each word is punching him directly in the face.

“Great! So you’re here to apologize!” Mikey says, which makes a lot of sense as long as you ignore literally everything about this. He tries to clap, but between Klunk and his injury it just kinda ends up as a pathetic arm flop thing. “Alright dude, lay it on me. A little somethin’ somethin’ to grease the apology wheels isn’t like, necessary but if you just so happened to have a cool $201 in cash I’m not gonna say no, you know?

He winks. It does not go over well.

    Summary

Donnie can barely remember the last time the two of them had really talked.

…Never mind, yes, he can. Eugh.

His heartbeat thuds, dum-dum, dum-dum, in his ears.

Donnie says, “I invoke the Prisoner’s Dilemma Accords.”

Leo, who has graduated to actual tricks during his monologue, sends his cards to his left hand, a good two feet below his right, and claps them to a halt. As he squares the deck, his golden eyes dart up to meet Donnie’s, dagger-sharp.

In the aftermath of Mind Meld, Donnie and Leo revive a childhood tradition and try (not) to have a vulnerable conversation.
