Summary
Rose is settling into her life in a new city very nicely. She has a job she loves, great new friends, and a flat a few doors down from a certain cute neighbor. When her mum keeps nagging her about kickstarting her love life, Rose spins a tale that involves dating her neighbor, John, who is no more than a good friend. It's all an innocent white lie until Jackie calls and tells Rose that she's coming to visit and can't wait to meet her boyfriend.
Rose has to face the music and come clean to John and see if he will pretend to be her boyfriend for just a few days while her mother is in town and hope that their friendship is still intact at the end of it all.

The revolving door of Hudson Enterprises’ corporate office swishes behind him, spitting Ace out onto the sun-baked sidewalk; he squints and frowns. After spending half the day in dark-paneled boardrooms interviewing with a series of executives of exponentially increasing levels of douchebaggery, he’s got a new job paying ten times his dishwashing wages and the deep need to take a very long, very hot shower.
Maybe a series of showers. Maybe scrubbing his skin with industrial-strength cleaner and the Brillo pad he reserves for the dirtiest pots at The Claw, the ones with cooked-on cheese and blackened bits of grease.
Because the final interview of the afternoon had been with Everett Hudson himself. Ugh. Just being near that family was enough to leave Ace feeling slimy by association.
But that’s a feeling you’re just going to have to adjust to, he tells himself as he jams his hands in the pockets of his charcoal suit and trudges toward the comforting familiarity of Florence. After all, he’s just been hired as the newest bodyguard protecting their youngest, their princess, the heir apparent.
