Aang and his friends have heard all kinds of rumors, from idle gossip among bored fishmongers and spice traders to irreverent speculation by Fire Nation soliders and guards. None of the explanations ever match up, and some of the theories are ridiculously far-fetched, but the sound of Zuko’s name always makes them freeze, as though the word might conjure up the prince himself. But none of these theories are anything like the truth.

Zuko and Sokka undertake a straightforward reconnaissance of a Fire Nation village, but unlikely revelations lurk within the walls.
Zuko looked over Sokka critically. "You're not going like that, right?"
Sokka picked at his clothes with brown hands, blinking blue-eyed in quite a comical way. "What? You think I'm indiscrete?"
"We have disguises, oh, wise Prince Obvious," Toph scoffed. "Sokka even has a whole set of Fire Nation armor. You know, with the mask." She curled her fists around her eyes like telescope lenses in a humorous rendition of the infamous invasion force helmets.
Sokka grinned. "For this, I think I'll just go with the red tunic, though. Seriously, do you people even make clothes in other colors?"
Zuko retorted, "You should talk. Do you wear blue so that you blend into thefathomless, glacial wildernesswhere you come from?"
"Actually yes," Sokka answered, quite cheerily and completely untouched by offence. He posed like a prowling hunter. "Yes, we do."

“You burned Toph right after you announced that you were on our side! You burned down Kyoshi Island! Not to mention what you did to yourself–!”
Zuko raises his hand.
“Wait,” he says, frowning. “You think that my scar was caused by… some kind of training accident and that I did it to myself?”
Or: Katara has doubts about Aang's new firebending teacher. After all, Zuko’s fire has already hurt too many — including himself.

Luz smiled, she had a little Santa had on her head. “That’s right! And then Santa comes and brings the good kids toys!”
Instantly, Collector looked nervous. “…What if you’ve been bad?”
“Well, typically you’d get coal. But I don’t think you’ll have to worry about that.” Luz winked at them, petting them on the head.
Collector couldn’t help getting giddy at the idea of getting presents. They’d been working really hard to be a better person this last year, and Luz and the others seemed to think they were making great progress.
They only turned people into toys like fifteen times in the last year! That’s a personal best.

Books stand, stacked higher than Elder Faerie is tall. Loosened pages float delicately about. Some opened books levitate around it, including a very newly bound one; one that it had just started furiously writing in. He chooses not to acknowledge the sudden revert into old behavior, instead savoring the moment while it lasts.
Or: Elder Faerie and Mercurial Knight have to find Shadow Milk and make sure it's not causing mayhem and that it won't be causing mayhem. They find it in a vaguely unexpected place, doing something certainly unexpected. And maybe Elder Faerie gets some much-needed rest out of the deal. And maybe Shadow Milk gets some much-needed comfort out of the deal. Oh, and I guess Mercurial gets tea (literally, and i suppose metaphorically too) ??

“Malfunctions.” Shadow Milk’s mismatched eyes held unease, mind whirling unpleasantly. “That’s–That’s what The Witches called these kinds of things, feelings, or whatever. Said they only got in the way and obstructed our purpose. That they were useless and had nothing to give.” He muttered under his breath.
Hesitation rose beneath his dough and in his veins, making the discomfort, that had recently settled rent free in his chest, rear its ugly head. He opened his mouth, to deflect, to laugh it off, to change the subject, to reassure, he didn’t know. With how much of a whirlwind his mind was being, he couldn’t decide on a solid choice.
“Do..Do you believe that?” Was the quiet question that filled the room from the healer. Shadow Milk didn’t know if he was relieved or not that he himself didn’t have to butt in.
Still, a hard question. One he didn’t completely know the answer to.

Or, Shadow Milk has really bad identity issues and Pure Vanilla tries to help him through it the best he can.
