Summary
He’d had hope, after those talks, that when the sting of Olympic loss had faded he and Auguste would be able to salvage something of their old friendship. This doesn’t seem likely now. Sorry I gave you a concussion when I checked you is one thing; sorry I beat you out for the gold medal and then had your little brother wear it while I fucked him is another.

Summary
“If I had control of this situation, we would not be standing here at this very moment. I would be at home, in the country, away from you.”
“You cannot say such things if you wish to convince people we are besotted.”
...
On the brink of financial ruin, Laurent will do anything to save his family, including something he’s always asserted he never would - take a husband.
The only problem, Laurent is utterly uncourtable. Until Damianos of Marlas takes an interest in aiding his reputation, at least.
Together, they come up with a ruse that will fool the entire ton. Perhaps even themselves.

Summary
Laurent returns from Nesson-Eloy with a torn wing. Within a camp full of injured soldiers, Damianos must improvise--they both do.
“Go attend the rest of the camp,” Laurent hears his mouth saying. “Leave me.”
“Your wing is hurt,” Damianos says. Like a law.
“Astute observation,” says Laurent. His riposte is lacking its usual dryness. “I don’t think my distress is in any way desperate for your narration.”

Summary
Coming from a country whose dress customarily exposed much of one’s body, Damen never thought he would become flustered over the thin skin of an inner wrist, or the elegant curve of an ankle bone. Yet, as with most things involving Laurent, Damen found himself helpless in the face of a suitor whose form was perpetually shrouded in no less than five layers.

Summary
It's against company policy to flirt with customers, but the rules say nothing about insulting them.

"For someone who works in a candy store, you're not very sweet."
Laurent would correct him in that it is a chocolatarie, not a candy store, but that would not disprove his point. "For someone so attractive, you sure can't seem to keep a girl. It must be your personality."

Summary
Damen returns from a snowy excursion to discover that warming up requires a bit more effort than just getting out of wet clothes and into a hot bath. Laurent is willing to put in that effort, with a predictably unpredictable Laurent twist.
“I’ve heard that the best way to warm up after near hypothermia is skin on skin contact,” Laurent said, looking away shyly. “And I thought—if you wanted—”Damen was across the room gathering Laurent in his arms before Laurent could even finish whatever he was about to say. He must have known, in any case, that Damen wanted. There was hardly any need to ask.
“Skin on skin contact,” Damen murmured, burrowing his hands into the fur blanket Laurent was wearing around his shoulders. Laurent was too well-bred to let out anything that could be considered a yelp as Damen’s cold fingers found warm skin, but he did make a funny noise and squirmed quite a bit at the touch, and glared at Damen.
